It’s that time again. The beginning of fall practice has come and a little over two weeks there will be high school football games played all across the state of Missouri. Then a week later Kansas joins the party and the 2023 season will be off and running.

It seems like yesterday we started PrepsKC. It wasn’t yesterday it was 13 years ago. I had 4-month-old baby who is now 13 and one school year away from being in high school.

Looking back, we started with a website, a radio show and a weekly magazine.

Yes for those who don’t know or remember there were 15 weeks of the PrepsKC magazine full of features, profiles, schedules and standings. It was fun and gave fans something to hold in their hand each week. There was a lot of great photography and fantastic covers that still look good almost a decade later.

We changed with the times and went with a fuller functioning app in 2014 and over time our traffic has more and more come from mobile devices. A few years ago, PrepsKC.com became a fully mobile site that worked on any device that has the internet.

How we have covered games has changed as well. We have morphed over time from a classic newspaper style game story with columns and features to shorter stories with more video highlights and interviews.

The radio show has evolved as well. The content is still the same, but you can now podcast it through iTunes and other podcast services. That show and the other interviews and podcasts are some of our most popular features.

Who knows what is coming next. We are always trying to expand how we cover high school football in the Metro and bring you the best and most complete coverage.

When we started this in 2010 it was started as a labor of love. That hasn’t changed and it would be possible without the people like you who come to the site and the great sponsors that make all of this possible.

Thanks again and let’s get ready for another great season.
