There was nothing freaky about this Friday the 13th for the Bishop Miege football program.

With a full moon rising over the Blue Valley District Activities Center, Stags' quarterback Timothy Dorsey passed for 296 yards and five touchdowns, leading Class 4A number-1 ranked Bishop Miege to a 48-21 victory over Blue Valley West.

The Jaguars tied the game at 14-14 midway through the second quarter on a 63-yard touchdown pass from lefty Greg Riddle to David Brown. The Stags responded by scoring touchdowns on four straight possessions to take control 41-14 in the third quarter.

"We could tell they are a much-improved team", said Bishop Miege Head Coach Jon Holmes. "So we had to make some plays. We put a lot on Daniel Jackson and Phillipe Wesley. We made some adjustments in the pass game this week. I thought Timothy Dorsey was great this week. Made some big plays. Mack Moeller (5 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown) had a couple of big catches as well. Just proud of how our guys played and made adjustments tonight."

The Stags' defense also did a nice job against Riley Cummings. The BV West senior running back who rushed for 168 yards last week against Mill Valley was held to just 53 yards by the stingy Stags.

With the game tied in the second quarter, Dorsey hit Daniel Jackson on a quick slant for a Bishop Miege touchdown. Later in the quarter, a scrambling Dorsey found Brison Cobbins for a five-yard score, and the Stags led 27-14 at the half.

Bishop Miege put the game away in the third quarter with a three-yard score by Cobbins and a 44-yard touchdown pass from Dorsey to Wesley. Cobbins added his third touchdown in the fourth quarter. The senior rushed 24 times for 119 yards.

The Stags (2-0) will play at Mill Valley next week, while the Jaguars (1-1) visit St. James Academy.
