Blue Valley West won the game at the line of scrimmage, knocking off Staley 21-7 on Friday night at Staley High School.

It was ground and pound all night for the Jaguars. All three of their scores were on the ground, and by senior running back Sage Huffman.

"Our offensive and defensive lines played very well," West head coach Josh Koerkenmeier said. "Staley has great kids on both sides of the ball. We challenged our kids to come out and dominate there (line of scrimmage)."

At 11:24 of the second, Huffman put West up 7-0 with a one-yard plunge into the end zone.

Following a missed field goal by Staley, Huffman took in it from 16 yards out on fourth down to make it 14-0 with less than five minutes to play in the half.

The Jaguars attempted an onside kick, but it went out of bounds and Staley took advantage of the field position.

Just one play later, KV Stone sprinted for 49 yards and brought the Falcons back within a score by halftime.

West shifted the momentum back to its side, where it remained the rest of the night, with a stop on fourth down at their own 14 at 8:40 of the third.

With less than one minute left in the third, Huffman scored his third rushing touchdown, a 44-yard run, to make it 21-7 heading to the fourth.

The two-touchdown lead was never threatened and the win was sealed with two Jaguar takeaways in the final four minutes.

"That's the mark of a good team and we haven't done that early in the season," Koerkenmeier said. "We're excited about this group going forward."

The Jaguars (2-2) will return to the Kansas side of the stateline next week as they take on Blue Valley Northwest (2-2).

Staley (1-4) hosts Liberty (3-2) for its homecoming game.
