Lincoln Prep is a good football team. The Blue Tigers showed how dangerous they can be in a 56-0 rout of Interscholastic League foe Southeast.

But sometimes, life isn't fair. And this week, Lincoln was dealt a crappy hand.

On Friday, PrepsKC reported Lincoln was forced to forfeit five games for playing an ineligible player. School officials self-reported the violation. Yet, Missouri State High School Activities Association officials still stripped the Blue Tigers of five wins.

Coming into this week's DiPasquale Moore/PrepsKC Metro Game of the Week, Lincoln was winners of six games in a row. After dominating Southeast from start to finish, make that seven consecutive wins. Officially, the Blue Tigers are 2-6 in the eyes of state officials, though.

Fine by the Blue Tigers, first-year head coach Marcus Crosdale said. An administrative oversight led to the violation, Kansas City Public Schools officials said. Lincoln plays by the rules, Crosdale said. It took its collective frustration out on the Knights, 1-7.

"Tonight was all about making a statement," Crosdale said. "Unfortunately, Southeast was on the other hand of it. It was no disrespect but at the same time, we had to show them we're a team regardless of the so-called ineligible player we played."

Sure, Jayden McGee scored two defensive touchdowns and recovered two fumbles, including one scoop and score in the end zone. His pick-6 from 5 yards out was a wonderful football play.

"I didn't even know I was that close to the end zone," McGee said.

Yes, running.back Aaron Smith scored three first-half TDs.

And Davyne Jones razzle and dazzled with two scores of his own in the first half. Not to be outdone, Gavin Nash found the end zone on a 37-yard punt return, too.

Even middle linebacker Ashaun Moore got in on the fun with a fourth quarter interception.

But the business-like approach from Lincoln was hard to ignore.

"We just got stripped five wins," McGee said. "I really had to show the team and show the district and everybody that we're still here. We're not about to give up."
