Down some key pieces, Liberty North just kept rolling.

The second-ranked Eagles racked up nearly 200 yards on its first two scoring drives alone, beating Raymore-Peculiar 38-0 on Friday night in Liberty.

"We challenged the boys this week to come out and play better," Eagles head coach Andy Lierman said. "Especially on the defensive side of the ball. All three phases did a great job tonight."

After a three-and-out, North took over at their own 5. The Eagles cashed in on the 95-yard drive with a 24-yard run by Micahjo Barnett, who got the start at running back, to take the 7-0 lead at 7:31 of the first.

Ray-Pec downed another punt deep in Eagles’ territory, at the one-yard line to be exact.

That failed to deter North as they went the length of the field and scored once again on the ground. Barnett's second TD made it 14-0, a lead the Eagles took into the half.

North opened the second half with a methodical attack, milking more than five minutes off the clock.

After Barnett scored his third TD, the North lead was 21.

The Eagles just kept pounding the rock and distanced themselves even further on their next drive.

Barnett notched his fourth touchdown of the game, a 15-yard run, to make it 28-0 with just over two minutes left in the third.

It was the special teams turn just before the end of the third. Jay Ross returned a blocked punt for the score and it was 35-0.

North closed out their seventh consecutive win with a field goal late in the fourth.

The Eagles will travel to ninth-ranked Lee's Summit West next week.

"We love winning and we want to do that, but what I like more is that we're continuing to get better," Lierman said.
