The rematch of one of the best games of the last 20 years will be seen in the national spotlight.
The first game of the season pitting Lee’s Summit West and Staley will be broadcast by ESPNU Saturday Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
The game will be played at Lee’s Summit West and was moved from Friday to Saturday to accommodate the ESPN schedule.
The two teams played a four overtime classic in last year’s Missouri Class 5 semifinal with Staley winning 76-70. The Falcons would go on to win the state title matching the Titans state title run from 2010. West’s run to the title also went through Staley.
The teams have played only two times but this game will bring national focus to what has quickly become one of the top rivalry games in the Metro. The teams are arguably the two best programs in Class 5. Lee’s Summit West is entering its ninth year of existence while Staley is only five years old. Both schools have won early and often with West winning a state title in Class 4 in 2007.
The game will feature two of the top players in Missouri with Staley quarterback Trent Hosick and West linebacker Nick Ramirez. Both have committed to play at the University of Missouri starting in 2013.
