Defending champs impress on first play
By Bill Althaus The Examiner The Blue Springs South High School football team looked every bit like the reigning Class 6 state champion in its dress rehearsal Friday. In the Jaguars’ appearance in the Park Hill jamboree Friday night, Khorey Kilgore scored on a 40-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage and quarterback Dalton Brewer orchestrated an 11-play, 40-yard scoring drive on the Jaguars’ second offensive series. Brewer capped the series with a 2-yard touchdown run against host Park Hill. Overall, the Jaguars scored three touchdowns in four offensive series – two of which began on the 40-yard line and two that started on the 20 – and allowed just one touchdown against the Trojans. The Jaguars then scored one touchdown and allowed a touchdown against Park Hill South, which was just fine with Panthers assistant coach Scorpio Horn, a Blue Springs High School graduate whose younger brother Willie is a coach at Blue Springs South. “First time Willie and I have gone head-to-head,” said Scorpio, who along with Willie, was a member of past Examiner All-Area defensive teams, “so a tie is just fine with me.” For the rest of the story clickhere. ![]()
