Blue Springs South starts season with solid win
By Bill Althaus The Examiner The more things change, the more they stay the same. Just ask Blue Springs South football coach Greg Oder, whose reigning Class 6 state champion Jaguars return just three starters from last year’s team, yet were able to claim a 47-14 victory over Truman Friday night at Larry Stewart Memorial Stadium. Those three starters are offensive linemen, and the line paved the way for 397 yards of offense as Khorey Kilgore scored on runs of 65, 25 and 6 yards and added a 40-yard screen pass from Dalton Brewer. “It all starts up front,” said Kilgore, who carried the ball 13 times for 157 yards and the four overall touchdowns. “We’re a new team, but we have some great linemen back and they played a big role in tonight’s win.” The score might be a bit deceiving as Truman trailed just 20-7 at halftime and 26-14 midway through the third quarter, and seven of the Jaguars’ points came on a 65-yard fumble return for a score by Jordan Moon (please see related story). ![]()
