Every year young people lose their lives on the highways. In the last few years distracted driving has become an epidemic across the country. Texting and driving is one of the biggest culprits in the distracted driving problem.
PrepsKC is thrilled to announce an exciting and important contest sponsored by The McCarthy Auto Group. PrepsKC and The McCarthy Auto Group are asking fans of high school football across the Metro and surrounding areas to take a pledge to not text and drive.
Starting Oct. 1 and running through Oct. 31 fans can take the pledge at PrepsKC.com. When they take their pledge they will be asked what school they support. At the end of the month the school with the most votes will receive $5,000 cash for their football program.
In a time when every dollar a school district has is stretched to the limit this is a great way to help the football program. That is just one benefit of the contest as those who take the pledge will be helping to make the highway safer for themselves and every other driver on the road.
“McCarthy Auto Group is proud to partner with PrepsKC to spread the message to Kansas City’s youth to Take the Pledge to Not Text and Drive,” Director of Communications for The McCarthy Auto Group Karl Kramer said. “We agree that over communication is key to reduce texting and driving that exists every day, as we all want today’s youth to become tomorrow’s community and business leaders across the Kansas City market.”
PrepsKC is proud to partner with great companies that are community focused. The McCarthy Auto Group has long been a supporter of high school football in the Metro long before its association with PrepsKC. The McCarthy Auto Group has been the sponsor of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association’s Scholar Athlete for 6 years. Each year The McCarthy Auto Group gives 22 $1,000 scholarships to 11 players from both Kansas and Missouri.
Dion Clisso PrepsKC Managing Editor said this contest is at the core of what PrepsKC stands for.
“At PrepsKC we love high school football,” Clisso said. “While we live for Friday nights, we care about our community more than anything we do. PrepsKC wouldn’t be what it is without the high school football community and making sure that every member of the community is safe and able to enjoy the sport they love is our ultimate goal.
“The McCarthy Auto Group’s commitment to high school football in the Metro is unparalleled. This contest and other partnerships like the GKCFCA’s Scholars program is why we are proud to be partnered with the McCarthy Auto Group.”
The contest starts Oct. 1 and you may vote up to three times per day per IP address.
