Welcome to Five From Friday our weekly feature that highlights some of the best quotes, notes, stats and performances of the games Friday night. Each weekend PrepsKC will post a Five From Friday looking back on the night that was.

Quote of the night

“This is by far the best win I have had in my career. To beat the number one team from Missouri is by far the best feeling ever.” – Lawrence Free State running back Jax Dineen after beating Missouri Class 6 No. 1 Park Hill.

Stat line of the night

Carter Putz, senior quarterback, Bishop Miege – Putz led Bishop Miege to a 27-14 win over rival St. Thomas Aquinas. In the game, he threw for 230 yards and one touchdown and ran for two more scores. The touchdown pass gave him 93 for his career which is a new Kansas state record.

Call of the night

In a game that was a shootout all night, Lee’s Summit West beat Lawrence with big plays like this one from Phillip Brooks. 810 Varsity’s Joel Becker was on the call.

Brooks breaks a long one

Team of the night

Blue Valley – The Tigers rallied from more than two scores down with 10 points in the final minute and a half to beat Blue Valley North 34-33. After a season-opening blowout loss to Bishop Miege, Blue Valley has bounced back with two wins and now looks like the Blue Valley of old.

Big Winner

Staley – The Falcons used a last-minute TD drive to pull out a 22-15 win over Fort Osage. Staley and Fort Osage have a long history of great games and this was another in that series. The Falcons won with defense and just enough offense to move to 5-0 on the season.
