Back to all Experts

Sports injuries often come at unexpected times, and packed schedules can make appointments difficult to come by. That’s why The University of Kansas Health System Sports Medicine and Performance Center is back with our Saturday morning walk-in clinic for sports injuries for fall 2021.

From August 28 to November 20, walk-in care will be available 8-11 a.m. Saturdays at our Sports Medicine and Performance Center located at 10730 Nall Ave., Suite 200, in Overland Park. Additionally, extended weekday hours allow you to make appointments with a physician until 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday for orthopedic injuries.

No appointment or referral is necessary for Saturday morning walk-ins. Patients will be treated on a first-come, first-serve basis by the same sports medicine experts who care for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.

"There are a lot of events on Thursday and Friday and sometimes athletes can’t come in during the week,” says David Smith, MD. “Saturday morning at 8 o’clock we’re waiting for them. We have an X-ray tech, a physician and clinical staff. And we can take care of almost any injury in that clinic, including concussions.”

On Saturdays, a sports medicine physician will evaluate, diagnose and treat most injuries, such as:

  • Acute sports injuries
  • Bone fractures
  • Concussions
  • Joint injuries
  • Sprains
  • Strains
