The 2018 season is right around the corner, so it is time to take a look at schedules for all the teams in the PrepsKC coverage area.
The next conference we are highlighting is the United Kansas Conference. The league is new in 2018 and is made up of six teams coming from four different conferences. It is primarily Class 5A teams with one Class 4A team.
The schools are Basehor-Linwood, DeSoto, Lansing, Leavenworth, Shawnee Heights and Turner. Basehor-Linwood, Lansing and Turner all came from the now defunct Kaw Valley League, DeSoto moves over from the Frontier League, Leavenworth was a longtime member of the Sunflower League and Shawnee Heights joins the PrepsKC coverage area after being in the Centennial League that featured the Topeka schools along with teams like Emporia, Manhattan and Junction City.
All the programs except Basher-Linwood will be in Class 5A but the Bobcats could join the others in 5A in a few years if growth in that area continues. There are good games within the conference schedule, but the teams also did a good job of scheduling in the non-conference as well.
Some of the games to look for are Tonganoxie at Basehor-Linwood, DeSoto at Pittsburg, Lansing at Blue Valley Southwest, Leavenworth at Bonner Springs, Shawnee Heights at Topeka and Turner at Olathe West.
