As the 2019 high school football season draws to a close, one Kansas City high school has just begun to build on-field momentum, practicing safer and smarter football. The West Platte Blue Jays football team is one of four lucky enough to receive five Riddell InSite units, using them throughout the 2019 season and beyond. Since their adoption, the Blue Jays team emphasizes player protection, while equipping athletes with newfound skills.

The technology continues to help coaching staff and athletic trainers better understand player behavior and on-field impacts. One member of the training staff already sees the advantages - “Some of the early benefits that I've noticed is that InSite takes the guesswork out of the types of impacts that our athletes are taking. It's great to know in real time when an athlete experiences an atypical impact, but to also track the smaller, more frequent impacts by player and location throughout practices and games.”

The Blue Jays players suited with the InSite technology are seeing positive results in their play. According to training staff, “The two athletes that I've spoken to about their analytics are making improvements to their technique, so I do believe that it can help with detrimental issues such as lowering their heads.” The technology is an invaluable addition to the organization.

Beyond the 2019 season, the Blue Jays program among other schools using InSite, will continue to affect the Kansas City high school football landscape as player safety remains a major focus for coaches and athletic trainers alike.
