Every two years the Suburban Conference realigns and moves schools around based on enrollment. This year is the first year of the cycle, so the Suburban Blue Division has a new look heading into the 2020 football season.
It’s not a big change but Ruskin drops down from the White Division while Grain Valley moves up. The other six teams: Grandview, Kearney, Platte County, Raytown South, Smithville and Winnetonka remain the same.
This year there are some good games that highlight each team’s schedule. Grandview opens with two what should be Class 5 schools in Truman at Park Hill South.
Both Kearney and Platte County will make trips to Kansas in the final week of the regular season. Kearney will play at DeSoto while Platte County heads to Lansing. Raytown steps out of conference the first two weeks with a big matchup with rival Raytown in week 2. Ruskin will also get a Kansas game as the Eagles will host Wyandotte in week 3. Smithville opens with former conference foe Grain Valley in Week 1 while Winnetonka will take on the new high school from Jefferson City, Capital City in the next to last week of the regular season.
