Learning about the next wave

The Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association has been holding its college night for more than a decade.

The event gives college coaches a chance to meet with member schools and discuss the rising seniors in their programs as they get ready for their final year of high school football.

The GKCFCA produces a booklet for the coaches that gives them information about each school’s players, and it is a valuable tool for the colleges who attend and purchase the booklet.

The event has always been held at Rockhurst High School and has been a big success every year. With the exception of 2020 during the pandemic, it was a great event for both the colleges and high schools that participate.

GKCFCA president Anthony Orrick said this was a great event again this year.

“College Night is always a great opportunity to meet new coaches and re-kindle old relationships," Orrick said. "The ability to talk and share with so many coaches in one location really streamlines the process and allows for better exposure for our players.”

More than 75 high schools were represented and more that 50 college attended the event. As players begin their offseason the combine and college night is another example how the GKCFCA is working to make football better in the Kansas City Metro.
